How to track business expenses without an app
Most expense apps ask you to change your habits: download, onboard, and remember to open them. For a small business or solo operator, the tool you will actually use is the one already on your home screen — your messaging app.
Why "no app" is an advantage
- Nothing new to install or learn — you use WhatsApp or Telegram.
- Lower friction means expenses actually get logged, not deferred.
- Staff or co-founders can log to a shared account from their own chat.
- Receipts are captured as photos the moment they exist.
How it works in practice
- Link your WhatsApp/Telegram number to a tracker like Wisspy once.
- Text expenses as they happen: "fuel 60", "client lunch 35".
- Photo receipts for anything you need for accounting or VAT.
- Export a categorized CSV per month or quarter for your bookkeeper.
What you give up (and what you don't)
You give up a dedicated app's dashboards in exchange for far higher capture rates — and you still get clean reports and CSV export on the web when you want to review or hand off to accounting. For most small operators, captured-but-simple beats sophisticated-but-empty.
In short
Tracking business expenses without an app is not a compromise — it removes the main reason expense systems fail. Log from the chat you already use, attach receipts, and export clean numbers when accounting needs them.
